The foundation of some businesses and companies provides a fascinating story. For instance, Ruiz Brothers Printing Co. was established at 3916 Alameda Ave., El Paso, TX in 1947 by Jose Ruiz and Jesus Ruiz, his brother. By 1952, Jose purchased his brother's shares, and they had changed the firm's name to Jose Ruiz Printing. It was near the freeway that was threatening the business, so Jose bought his own building at 3409 Alameda. There, his daughters, Rosario and Elena, helped their father run the place. But sooner or later, the freeway was built, and Jose was forced to sell the building and move to the present location at 645 Wallenberg Dr. in El Paso. Jose died in 1985, and Elena's son, David, grew up in that shop and became Jose's apprentice when he was just eight years old. David's grandfather passed away in 1993 (Tovar Printing, Inc., n.d.). After 23 years at Harland Checkprinters of El Paso, Quality Graphics & Forms, Airport Printing, Inc., and Airport Printing, Inc., Noemi, David's wife, tried to help. David and Noemi were both apprentices at the Airport Printing works. It was there that David learned the ropes and Noemi taught herself to estimate the industry.
