Gerrod Jones Barbershop

Meet Gerrod Jones, the attorney from New Orleans who used to skip school while he was 11 years old to go and spent time in the local barbershop. As he grew, he realized that he had to settle down and establish a career. Taking a leap of faith, he enrolled in a nearby barber school. He earned twice the amount he was paid at his previous job in his first week at the barbershop and from that moment he realized the potential for a bright future in his career choice. Everything went well until Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on the 29th of August 2005, with more than 80% of his city destroyed. He had to make another difficult decision about his life as nothing went as planned. That is when he decided to leave Texas and move to Houston, where he lived his life challenging the unexpected. Through his hard work, sacrifices, and commitment, Gerrod completed his 9 hours a day of class work and acquired a Texas Barber College license in 8months. During fall 2006, Gerrod secured a job at t’s Barbershop, which is located on Houston’s south side. Since Gerrod had one client, his cousin, it was now challenging to establish himself in Houston. As stated in his interview, he had to think out of the box so that he attracts more clients (Gerrod Jones Unique Technique Barbershop, 2014). Through hard work and perseverance, he managed to acquire as many customers as he could and the busiest day of his life came when he got a full house of clients. Gerrod has now been a barber for eight years having established his Unique Technique Barbershop. Gerrod is well known in Houston and beyond for his unique services that have attracted many people to his shop. His commitment to offering the best services to his clients has made him traverse America and other parts of the world to provide his services. His tireless works in Houston have made him establish a substantial clientele base which has made his business to boom.
