MECA, a BIPOC community non-profit organization, supports families’ under-served and underrepresented healthy growth by offering arts and culture programming, academic excellence promotion, community building and support services. Visual arts programs are acquired through three programs: the Out of School Time Arts and Residency program, the In School and Sunburst Summer Arts program. MECA's Visual Arts Classes give students a chance to learn and express themselves through engaging, hands-on activities. The course intends to motivate youth to explore their interests and express their emotions through various mediums. Visual arts courses are designed for under-served children and those with disabilities and aimed at children aged five to twelve. Materials like acrylic paint, colored pencils and markers, crayons, clay, wood, fiber and metals, and aluminum used to create the works. Instructors teach the elements and principles of design, and students create 2D and 3D art. They are encouraged to experiment with materials and tools to create a unique piece. This class introduces students to a variety of art materials and how they may be used in art making.
 
MECA's Day of the Dead-themed reviews are mostly positive, with many people sharing positive feedback about the venue and its activities. Highlights from user experiences include the altar displays, children's activities that enriching the cultural experience, the attractive and well-organized atmosphere, and the diversity of food options. Family-friendly activities during the festival are particularly appreciated by reviewers, as there are many opportunities for interaction and entertainment. Parents share that the MECA Art Exhibit and the School are crucial to their children's culture, and understanding as they grow. During the event, students' art is particularly stunning and thoughtful. But the visitors have concerns, one person complained of the intense summer heat inside the building. MECA can consider this problem and provide solutions.
