Texas Southern University (TSU) academic offerings include many undergraduate and graduate programs with more than 100 concentrations. TSU also has faculties in 10 schools and colleges. The university's learning environment is enhanced by its more than 800 faculty members. TSU is home to nearly 80 student organizations and an ever-expanding network of proud alumni. These alumni include entrepreneurs, attorneys, lawyers, and even pilots and artists. Many of them are active change agents in their communities and around the world. TSU is also one of the oldest historically black universities in the United States, located on a 150-acre campus in Houston, Texas. Leadership Development Schools and colleges are at the core of developing leaders with a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. TSU has many prominent graduates, including the late U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Jordan and U.S. Congressman George “Mickey” Leland. Empowering African Americans TSU, a leader in producing African American students with post-secondary or advanced degrees, now has more than 7,500 students, including 2,303 international students. TSU was founded to educate African Americans, but it has grown into one of the most diverse colleges in Texas.

Overall, Texas Southern University has received mostly positive reviews. There is Students, Faculty, and staff pride in their school, and the strong sense of belonging runs throughout the college. Many reviewers have described the campus as beautiful, and loved their small classes, which is a common theme. The university's athletic success, the sport's teams are known for good reasons, with lots of students providing a unique atmosphere, the school's athletic program has been a positive experience for some students. Professors who care can sometimes be lacking at college. It can be seen as an impersonal state university, and these students concerning these issues are not shared by some, as some have had a great relationship with their professors and felt strongly supported by them. Research on this matter reveals that a student's location for college is likely based on the perception of their program effectiveness that will enhance their personal growth. Beyond the academic program, social experiences in extracurricular activities like clubs on campus, with Greek life and student government, can be a very fulfilling experience. This observation is specific to Texas Southern University.
