The company I worked for provided training and education for me to make safety a profession. During this time, I had three mentors who gave me the experience and knowledge to understand my profession. My drive and wherewithal were provided by my second industry position after leaving my original job behind. I worked for a third-party safety firm, and I was terminated after only two years of working there. My husband was moving us to Midland, TX to take up his new job when he received bad news that he was laid off. We were unsure what we should do. Family, friends, and customers thought I should start my own business.
