On Nov 17, 2022 I had Cowboys Air Conditioning & Heating scheduled to come out and do regular maintenance of my mother’s HVAC which is less than 5 years old. Adrian the technician was sent out and he did his maintenance. He then recommended my mom spend another $3k on insulation and such. I politely declined. Then one week later the system stopped cooling. So we called them back out and Cowboys sent the same tech Adrian out on Nov 29th. This time Adrian said that he was almost shocked when the system blew both inside and outside. He then proceeded to tell me that the HVAC blew its motherboard, a capacitor and the thermostat. He then tried to sell my mom a new system for $12K. He said it was better to just buy a new system. I informed him that the HVAC is only 5 years old and how could everything just blow up? Plus wouldn’t it all be under warranty? He then stated because of COVID that it would possibly take 11 months to get warrantied parts in for it because of the backlog in the HVAC industry and it would just be faster to buy my mother a new system. Obviously he NEVER shut the power off to begin with. And now my mother couldn’t even use her stove because the power to the HVAC was also connected to the stove. Once we took his input we decided to hire another HVAC technician to get a second opinion. He came out on Dec 5th, 2022. After running a completed diagnostic check he immediately called me to tell me it looks like whoever touched this unit sabotaged it. He ran me through the capacitor which worked fine, he showed me the thermostat, it worked fine and then showed me the motherboard which worked just fine. All off these things Cowboys tech said were blown. He then proceeded to show me an intentionally cut wire for the cooling fan and a removed prong that went to the cool unit. He stated this was not broken by mistake; this was “intentionally” cut. I took pictures and his report and scheduled an appointment to meet with a Cowboys representative on Dec 7, 2022. Upon arrival I was greeted by Ariel Martienz. I came to him to explain what had transpired and showed him picture evidence that their technician had intentionally sabotaged my mothers HVAC. Mr Martinez thanked me for bringing this to his attention and he stated he would make this right. He also stated that if this employee had done this to my mother he probably had done it to others. He assured me this employee would be fired. Because of all the picture evidence that we had which showed what my mothers mother board looked like when Cowboys started the maintenance and the post picture which showed it with cooling lines cut, it was pretty evident that Cowboys Tech had sabotaged my mother’s unit. Mr Martinez apologies and on the same day refunded my mother the service fee of $39.95. He also stated to me that they would do all needed to make sure my mom's unit got fixed. I explained to him that I had already hired someone else to fix it, He stated that was fine and to just send him the bill for the repairs. Once the new technician fixed everything the bill was for $850. And now as of today January 12, 2023 Cowboys Heating and Air Conditioning is refusing to pay my mother a dime. They also have never sent any of the pictures that I request that their technician took of my mothers unit but they did have it because Mr Martienez showed them to me and we compared them to the pictures I provide to him, basically the before and after and you can clear see the intentional cut of the line.
