earned my Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Texas Woman’s University in 1994, and my predoctoral internship was at Galveston University (1994-1995), and my postdoctoral residency at North East Independent School district (NEISD) in 1995. Then I practiced at the same school district as a psychologist until 2000. In 1997, I started my independent psychology practice, starting out part-time and moving to full-time in 2000. My undergraduate major was music therapy, which helped to fuel my process-oriented work and interest in the therapeutic application of creativity. My graduate program focused on the Family Systems Model. This model states that individuals are part of a larger system that includes their families of origin, families by marriage or partnership, communities and religious, cultural and ethnic communities.
