My career started with the management training program given by Terminix Pest Control. The program enabled me to gain valuable experience in leading teams and managing operations. When I finished the training, I was assigned to the San Antonio branch and made the branch manager. I oversaw all branch activities, focusing on sales, customer service and operations. I was able to turn the branch around and make it a successful business within a year. Having tripled our staff and doubled our revenue, I was eventually promoted to be the Regional Sales Manager for South Texas. Working at Merry Maids was an intriguing and satisfying opportunity that I took after quitting my role at Service Master. Merry Maids is a similar branch to Terminix, but operates under Service Master Corporation. Merry Maids offers housekeeping services, while Terminix offers Pest control. The two businesses have different operational models and branding strategies, but they all aim to provide high-quality services to their clients (Rouse, 2018). Since Merry Maids provides better working conditions for the employees than Terminix, I found the opportunity to work for them to be irresistible, as it accorded me more exposure and experience.
