Established in 1925 as University Junior College under the University of Texas, San Antonio College is one of the oldest community colleges in the state. It was handed to the San Antonio Independent Schools District the following year, and its name was later changed to San Antonio Junior College. Administrators campaigned to establish the San Antonio Union Junior College district after the state legislature was passed. The San Antonio Union Junior College District obtained from the district in 1945 and controlled St. Philip's Junior College in 1946. The term "Junior" was removed from the college name in 1945 and replaced by the word "Permanent." The college has come a long way, being recognized by many national and state organizations throughout the year (Alamo Colleges, 2021).

The reviews provide a generally positive outlook on San Antonio College. Commendations include the helpful Student Advocacy Center and the variety of academic programs, especially music, language, and dance. The campus was often noted as clean and full of friendly staff, with one student even experiencing a thriving student culture during COVID-19. The college especially languishes in the quality of their professors, with one student recalling a standout experience with an outstanding Medical Terminology professor, Robert Inman. Students also appreciated SAC's affordability and the fact that students could transfer to four-year institutions with ease. A student admitted the college is under constant growth, provides a life-changing educational experience, and is worth every penny. The college's outbound students end up winning scholarships and obtaining much academic success.
