The university helps students to discover and nurture their talents. Each student is purposefully prepared to go out into the world equipped with the motivation and skills to succeed. A one degree improvement is all it takes to make a difference and create change. One University’s learning program is all it takes to create learners, educators, and leaders who are ready for the world. This journey of discovery can be started by one teacher. St. Mary's University is a unique place where all faiths and people can come together for the common good. The University offers a comfortable and vibrant community environment that fosters student engagement and encourages them to mentor and serve others. This strong community atmosphere is grounded in University’s Marianist and Catholic commitments to provide a holistic education within a faith-centered, family spirit environment. We are a Marianist and Catholic University. Our goal is to instill deep Christian faith and teach ethical leadership for the greater good. Our Marianist brothers, lay faculty, staff, and clergy have supported St. Mary's students for more than 165 years following the Blessed William Joseph Chaminade. They helped them to be generous and kind, to see their career as a vocational path, rather than just a job. Not every university has a reputation like St. Mary's, with high-quality teaching staff and programs. The Core Curriculum is required for all undergraduates, broadening knowledge and transforming understandings of the world, responsibilities, and giving students a better understanding of their place within it. Employers are looking for problem-solving and critical thinking.

The reviews shows a mix reaction from many students and parents with ties to the university. The most frequent issues were the campus beauty and the high quality of the academic offerings. Professors were repeatedly praised, and law students noted that they believed they were prepared for the bar examination. Many reviewers cited the community-based nature of the university, and commencement was praised as one of the university's best features. Most reviewers called it a top-notch university option. The only criticisms of the students were that it was a little bit too small and perhaps insufficiently diverse. The almost continuous praise was summed up by one student's comment: "Great school!"
