Providing opportunities for artists with disabilities is the main mission of Art Access, as well as educating other cultural and community organizations who want more inclusive programming. Art Access has been operating in Utah since 1984, and our programming encompasses a wide range of performative arts, visual media, and more. As most of our programming has occurred outside, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a minimal impact on our operations. However, content changes are planned for the upcoming year. Our gallery is also scheduled to close in 2020. The Artist Working Groups began funding in 2021 and have employed an interdisciplinary research focus, which has been artist-centered and above all participatory. This work has helped bring out the voices of creative artists who are creating work at the intersection of disability, the environment, and other important issues like gender and racial inequalities. The working groups asked artists to reflect on how their experiences have been affected by the selected theme and how art can contribute to promoting these ideas.
