In 1923, Arthur Gunderson established a local jewelry business that would later become one of the most respected jewelers in the Pacific Northwest. When Gunderson retired from the business in 1965, Philip Monroe, a jewelry designer, and craftsman, inherited the business. Through a blend of experience and time, Monroe developed a design philosophy that guided each custom creation from concept to completion. Mr. Monroe hired the firm Olson Sundberg to design the new store at 519 Pine Street. Kevin Crane, an artist and jewelry designer, collaborated with Philip Monroe Jeweler on many designs. Kevin Crane became the President and Artistic Director of the company after Mr. Monroe retired in 2001. Although the name was changed, the company's three-generation commitment to customer service and tradition of producing custom jewelry following the high standards remain. In January 2020, Crane Jewelers relocated to the Skinner Building, an historic building located at 1326 5th Avenue in downtown Seattle. This location was less than one block from the original Seattle location. Crane Jewelers has had five downtown Seattle locations.

Mr. Kevin Crane's work has left a lasting impression on his customers. They view him as a talented and enabling artist. Their consensus is that the jeweler combines expert skills with personable manners. He has a solid reputation for fair prices and high-quality work in altering, selling and appraising old family heirlooms. The quality of his work, the artists remarks, has breathed new life into their old jewelry. His impeccable communication and ability to infer his customers' emotional attachment to the pieces are just as good. That helps to generate trust and positive feedback. They feel that they can leave the gems in Crane's capable hands. He will increase, restore, or even add meaning to each piece of old jewelry. Many customers were pleased with their purchase of consignment jewelry and customizing their engagement rings. 227 words.
