We have engaging, inspiring relationships in our 35 years of marriage. In both our approach and connection, our innovative techniques have been developed over decades of training with the top relationship professionals in the world. Begin with an evaluation process that helps couples see themselves as they are and accept each other. But the real goal is to help them move on towards a "securely attached" relationship. This means they can resonate and communicate more sanely, have much more control over their conflict and functioning, and so much more. We understand that an evolving, intimate marriage/relationship requires individual courage, commitment, and effort. Our couples renew their commitment to relationship health. They may be proud of the relationship they have created and everything that has gone into it. A "monument of marriage" is a great achievement for anyone. It is also a gift to anyone who will come after you, especially if they children or close relatives. The premarital examiner is a vital part of our work with couples at every stage of their development. It was introduced to our field over 40 years ago. It emerged from our more recent Co-Habitation Project. It is an expanded version of the Prepare/Enrich program that has become a standard in premarital evaluation and preparation for marriage. All the critical steps are the same. Our many years of teaching couples classes and workshops such as Essential Marriage Skills(tm), Marriage Makers/Marriage Breakers(tm) are crucial here. In addition, our experience with lesbian and gay couples is a plus. GROUPS: emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills are crucial to success in both career and personal life. For 30 years, we have co-led gender mixed personal development groups. We believe that everyone can learn from everyone else in this model. It provides a unique opportunity for real communication about intimate matters. This co-ed group is composed of two co-leaders, men and women, who are matched in regards to life stage, education, and other issues. Over time, this group can help us heal our attachment wounds and change our most self-destructive and self-sabotaging patterns that we may have developed as teenagers or in our childhood. It is called Schema Therapy, after the life patterns and coping skills we have developed, which we now know as Schema.
