Do not go here!
I have periodontal disease. I have to go every three months for periodontal maintenance, cleaning. Periodontal disease is very serious. I got disabled young and it took years for me to win disability insurance and I didn’t get dental insurance till almost 2 years ago.
So I got the disease from not being able to go. I have been at Aspen almost a year. On August 29, 2023 I had a cleaning scheduled. I was getting suction when the hygienist thought I needed it? But when I asked for it again later? I was told I didn’t need it, I could swallow my own saliva!
Who wants to swallow saliva with dental funk in it! All the years I had no access to dental work or the tools, now that I’m a paying customer and the tool is sitting right there? I’m told I don’t need it and can swallow my own spit! A tool I’m paying for! I felt very degraded as a human being and I felt humiliated! I also felt mistreated!
I left crying! When I got home I called the manager of this office. I told her what happened and how I felt about it! She said no one should have to be treated this way? That she was sorry & the hygienist would be spoken too. Then she scheduled my appointment for November 30 for my next cleaning & told me if it didn’t go well to call her, but she assured me it would never happen again!
So I don’t have dental insurance coverage again until January 1. Because I only had to use up what I had to get treatment started plus borrow money on care credit.
So I knew I would have to pay $289.00 for my upcoming November visit scheduled for November 30 at 1.
So, suddenly about 5 days ago, I get a call, out of the blue from Aspen Dental, telling me I’m never again allowed to come to this office location in Lebanon TN, because the hygienist, patient relationship has been broken because the hygienist has refused to do my teeth.
I was told I could go to the Gallatin, TN office. I told them I would speak with corporate first & get back to them.
Today I got served a letter from Aspen Dental by Fed X. It says d that I’m not allowed now, to go to any Aspen Dental Office in any of their location nationwide and I need to seriously get a new dental company or my oral health and other health may decline.
I am drawing government dental insurance through Cigna Medicare Advantage even though I have none till January 1.
I have contacted them also. They are investigating this. This is the thing. Anytime you get a new dentist, you have to get new x rays whether you had them some where else or not. Legally a new company won’t touch your mouth without their own x-rays.
So now, instead of coming up with $289.00 for the cleaning, which I do not have! Nor does my husband! He’s a veteran and also disabled!
If I let the 3 month visit go then my life is now in danger because I can die suddenly if the disease spreads into my blood stream!
All this over complaining about the right to use the dental suction tool I’m paying for! Being told I don’t need it, to swallow my spit & being treated inhumane!
No one should have to be mistreated and like this!
I don’t have any way to use care credit again as we are still paying the former dental charges. We are both on fixed income and have no extra money to charge again.
I’m going to the dental board tomorrow! I won’t stop till I get the fair, treatment I deserve. If I die from this there will then be a lawsuit for negligent homicide and disability discrimination!
Aspen Dental should think hard about that!
