The builder who built my house in Dubbo NSW would not fix the faulty house he had built for me and instead tried to blame me and my husband that we had caused the slab heave the slab heave by overwatering the grass. I say he tried to blame us but what I really mean is he did blame us and then tried to sue us for defamation when we tried to get him to fix the house. We did not need to pay anything as John worked with us on a no-win, no-fee basis where he was paid by results. After around 18 months, John managed to negotiate a fantastic result where the engineers who designed the faulty slab which had caused the house to become unliveable purchased the property back off me at the market valuation and also reimbursed me for my legal fees, costs for experts to visit the house to get reports together for the court, stamp duty on our new house, removal costs, etc. We achieved this result outside a court process and could not be happier with this result. John also then had to chase the builder for money owed to me as well as money which was spent on court fees which could not be recouped as the builder had gone into liquidation. In the end, I got the house I loved back and a heap of compensation for the lost time and headache of having to move out of a brand new house that I had just moved into.
