This was my first time ever getting into legal trouble and I knew absolutely nothing about dealing with the police or the court system. I was freaking out. My long-term serious partner had recently been put into jail for breaching restraining orders, assault, and a bunch of other stuff, and I had been supporting him and his kids through the whole ordeal.
