Advanced Level Roofing

I was approached by some door to door salesmen asking if we'd like an estimate for a roof replacement. We were about due, so we obliged. After using a google sky cam type of app, they came back with what we thought was an okay estimate, within our budget, and were given ten days to confirm or cancel with them. After speaking with some family that had a bad experience with them we realized they were way overpriced and tried to cancel (a few days after the ten days) and then got the runaround of different managers and owners that said the materials were already specially ordered and on the truck for delivery, along with the rest of the customers in our area. (I don't believe there were other customers- as we've noticed no other shingle deliveries or installs in the last month) Having worked in the lumber industry I could understand paying a restocking fee- but was told we had to pay a restocking fee that included the full price of the job and not just the materials (approx $1200 for the restocking fee). After a lot of storytelling, alternative solutions and excuses, we decided this was a lesson learned and paid the cost. If you're reading this don't use a company that knocks on your door begging for business. With a couple phone calls we found an accredited contractor to do the job for about half the price ($6000 vs $11,500) and urge anyone to do the same.
