TaxCounsel Customer Feedback Summary: 1. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. TaxCounsel was the worst experience of my adult life. Every email they send is being billed. Every question you ask is being billed. Every clarification is being billed. If they call you and you don’t answer, so they leave a voicemail and follow up email, bet. You’re being billed. Yep, let’s go $275/hr, and you will be charged to the decimal of the hour for any time they have to breathe and it’s related to you. I was quoted $2000-$2500 for my tax work. I was told I would be warned if fees went higher. I was never warned. My final bill was $4337, almost double the quote. Their rate was not clearly explained or something I was even made aware of. Beyond that, I was billed for every single email, question, clarification, and even missed calls. Chad took weeks to respond and the process was delayed from the very beginning and weeks past of trying to get ahold of him via calling his office and emails to follow up to get things started..I was eventually passed to someone else to actually begin doing my taxes. As a low income client, this experience has caused significant financial stress and if I had known the real cost I would not have hired this firm. I do not recommend them based on what I went through and how negatively this has effected my life. complete nightmare.2. I came across Chad when I was looking for answers with my tax situation. Chad was quick to answer my emails and he spent time replying back and for to my questions. He didnt dismiss my issue to prioritize and move on to other clients but rather took the time to explain and direct me on next steps. At the end, he didn't even charge for his advice. The world could use more lawyers like Chad. Thank you again for your help!3. Chad does not manage his billable hours and runs up the bill fast. Chad has many company names he uses to practice law, no one told me why? Be very careful of this firm. IF I would give 0 stars if I could4. Chad was very helpful and provided much needed clarity and re-assurance. He was knowledgeable and listened to what I had to say and was able to guide me in the right direction. If I need legal assistance with the CRA in the future, Chad and his firm will be my first call.5. Chad was a real down to earth kind of guy. Chad went way beyond what I had anticipated in order to find information, answer my questions, and suggest and explain possible courses of actions to deal with my tax problem. He was courteous, professional, and did not speak over my head. No one likes dealing with lawyers but I'm grateful that I had Chad. I would gladly engage & recommend Chad's services again in future.
