Certified Electric

I hired William Simpson/Certified Electric Ltd. to deliver a fully refurbished hot tub with new jets, pumps, spa pack, and control panel, plus professional 220V electrical installation. He promised a fully tested, like-new tub. What I received was a leaking, poorly functioning unit with old components and dangerously substandard electrical work. Delivery was chaotic—no dolly, no proper tools, and he asked me for help and equipment. The tub hadn’t been tested as claimed; it leaked at multiple levels, jets didn’t work, and debris poured out during filling. His fix for leaks was to silicone over air ports, disabling them. Most components were clearly used, and one pump was condemned. A spa technician quoted $2,500 to make the tub functional. The electrical install was worse: no permit, wrong breaker sizes (40A and 50A instead of 60A), and aluminum wire instead of required copper. A licensed electrician said the entire setup needed to be redone. William falsely claimed BBB accreditation and threatened legal action when I disputed the charges. I filed in small claims court and won a default judgment after he avoided service and failed to respond. Bottom line: William Simpson misrepresented his product, delivered unsafe work, and refused accountability. Avoid the Spa Surgeon/Certified Electric Ltd. at all costs.
