Orca Spirit Marine Transport Services Ltd. was founded in 2007 by a partnership between John Douglas and Walter Cadwallader. This partnership created the first tourist tours of the area, deploying John's 30 years of experience as a commercial fisherman from Port Alberni navigating BC's marine and remote waters. As the company grew, its range of marine transport services expanded to serve an international clientele. Walter joined Orca Spirit in 2003 after being raised fishing and working on whaling stations with his family. Being a multi-generational First Nations member, he was a perfect fit. Many clients have trusted Orca Spirit's team with in-depth knowledge of the region, including its culture and customs, making them the preferred water service partner for multi-national energy companies, government-managed navy services, cruise lines, and aircraft carriers.
