Amphora Architecture Inc. is a Winnipeg-based team of interior designers and architects focused on making the world more beautiful and sustainably. We approach every project with a fresh perspective, and all our projects are unique, functional, and memorable. We work together to solve complex problems and analyze possibilities. We then implement practical and thoughtful solutions that create new spaces or reimagine old ones. Our team strives to create elegant, technically sound and more engaging projects throughout our design process. Amphora was founded in 2013 by Vasili Mattheos. With nothing more than a laptop and an open mind, he began the company's journey. Vasili has worked on the design of large-scale, high-end buildings throughout the world. His design journey began when he was just eight years old, discovering his love of architecture on a trip to the ancestral home of his family. Visiting monuments and ancient buildings in Turkey and Greece was a turning point. Vasili completed his master's degree in architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. During this time, he was a Frank Knox Fellow, studying under some of the most esteemed design teachers and practitioners in the world. After his studies, Vasili went on to work as a designer in SOM's New York office. This legendary practice has worked on many of the most iconic and complex architectural structures globally. Vasili worked on three iconic SOM projects during his tenure at the firm. These included the Hudson Yards masterplan in New York and the Moynihan station/Madison Square Garden renovation in Manhattan West. Since Amphora's inception, Vasili has been back in Winnipeg. He has established an architecture studio that is design-oriented and has worked on many public and private projects in the Canadian Prairies. Amphora has since grown to include interior designers and other design professionals and support staff. All our team members are dedicated to delivering quality buildings and places that make the world more significant.
