Institute of Dance of Manitoba

We are a non-profit organization that has been operating since 1982 and offering Winnipeg dance classes. The ballet classes range from preschool to Advanced levels. Other classes include Jazz, Lyrical, Acro, Break Dance, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Flamenco, Latin Ballroom, and Salsa Cardio classes. For dancers, we offer Pilates equipment-based classes with limited course availability that are no more than 4 people. We are proud to provide the only studio in Winnipeg that offers this level of ballet training. We have trained Manitoba's very first Solo Seal Award recipient by the Royal Academy of Dance. Our students were also awarded scholarships from the Manitoba Dance Festival. Bernadette Shum and Linda Yap, with the RAD Method, teach our classes. To enhance your training, our higher-level classes have live pianists. Classical ballet technique is our main focus. We teach dancers perfect postures, line, control, and execution. Whether you are at the barre or in the center, these are important. We are also able to incorporate modern styles and character work.
