James Tennant Sr. was the founder of Piston Ring Service & Supply on Winnipeg's central side as a relatively small two-man machine shop. Since Piston Ring was founded in 1953, it has grown and changed to become a vibrant player in the automotive aftermarket. James Sr.'s grandchild and son, Meredith Thoendel and Melissa Tennant, respectively, run Piston Ring as third-generation employees. They took over many years ago and are now employing over 550 part-time and full-time personnel, filling over 400,000 square feet in distribution and retail spaces with systems and vast inventories unmatched anywhere. Ownership of 25 corporate Piston Ring/Auto Value Parts stores and 16 affiliate shops has resulted from our expansion and acquisitions. Our clients have grown from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwestern Ontario, and we have become one of the biggest automotive aftermarket companies in our trade area.
