Kim earned her Bachelor of Commerce (Cooperative) in Industrial Relations from the Memorial University of NL. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree in May 2003 from the University of New Brunswick. Kim actively participates in Newfoundland & Labrador's Community. She is a member of the Law Society of NL and the Canadian Bar Association. Kim was elected Chief Adjudicator of the Human Rights Commission Panel of Adjudicators. Kim also served as Chair of the Mental Health Care and Treatment Review Board. She is also an Adjudicator to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Public Complaints Commission Panel of Adjudicators. Kim, who is still a member of its Board of Directors, was the Chair of Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Kittiwake Dance Theatre.
