Cabin Coffee, a family-owned coffee shop in downtown Halifax and one of Halifax's oldest coffee houses, has been serving coffee for nearly 20 years. Sarah Austin and her sister-in-law, Ron Chisholm, have been at the helm. Katie, Sarah's sister, opened the shop in 2002. Katie, who died in 2002, designed the café with super-comfy sofas, an oversized fireplace, and a friendly atmosphere like the family cabin. The family accumulated at Cabin over the years. Katie's children spent their teen years behind the espresso machine, while Ron managed the business side of the store from the start. Sarah and Ron know many family and student members who worked part-time in the shop over the years by making lattes or soups. Some of our family's contributions include our famous seedy breakfast bar and Halifamous Cinnamon Buns. Cabin Coffee has become a popular spot for friends to meet and enjoy lunch, preserving Katie's legacy. In 2022, the Patel Family purchased Cabin Coffee. The Patel Family is excited to continue Cabin Coffee's success, offering a friendly atmosphere and premium products.
