I had a FANTASTIC plumber from another plumbing company come to do this job. He was on time, efficient, incredibly polite and helpful, and most importantly did a 5 star job. I now have ice. If my math is right it came in around 12% of the quote that I got from Superior Plumbing and Heating. As for my description below, and the multiple other reports....makes you go Hmmmmmmmmm.
I have just had the "benefit" of paying $100 + tax to get an estimate to install a waterline for a new refrigerator. The line would be T directly under where the fridge is sitting and the floor is hardwood (no tile to cut through).
Here is their description of the work... Summary Initial installation of 1/4 supply line for refrigerator, Will need to cut 3/4 line, install a 3/4x1/2 TEE, install 1/2x1/4 shut off valve in basement, Safely drill hole through ceiling to floor above, Run 1/4 copper or polyethylene line from basement to directly above in ceiling, Connect to fridge and test
They asked for $2090.50...that's not a typo...they were serious. The technician understood why I was mad. They gave me a ridiculous quote on a job that could be done in less than 30 minutes at a price NO ONE would ever pay. Then took a C-Note for the effort...looks like a great hustle.
