When most people were learning to drive, I was learning that my friends died in a car accident. This gave me great anxiety about driving. I eventually took 3 in car lessons with Young Drivers of Canada, but the instructor only made my anxiety higher, and the in class instruction was extremely dull.
Fanshawe Driving Academy in-class staff Zahir was thorough, energetic, inclusive, and informative as well as reassuring. The day of my first in-car lesson, I cried before I got in the car, and cried as soon as I got in the car, Qamar was very reassuring, calm, and supportive throughout the entire process and as a result, I was able to gain confidence and skills behind the wheel. He started me out in a quiet neighbourhood and gently allowed me to develop comfort driving while also providing me instruction and reminders to help me succeed. I tested and passed the driving test the first time and I couldn't have done it without the instruction, encouragement, and support of the staff of Fanshawe Driving School!
Worst experience, $800 wastage. I would prefer to take private lessons which would cost me half of this amount.
• If you don’t want to practice on the test route, book them.
• If you want to wait 1-2 hours before your lessons, book them.
• If you want them to use their phone while giving you lessons, book them.
• If you want them to waste your time and then ask you to book more lessons or say you won’t get the certificate, book them.
So for people who are considering taking this course, I would suggest saving your money and booking private instructors instead. Only then they seem to take you seriously because they are getting paid enough, I guess.
I am posting this review while I still have 5 lessons left. I had to transfer my car booking money because I was not allowed to book my test, so I used my balance for two more lessons instead. I am pretty sure the remaining 5 lessons will not be useful either after this review. If that happens, I will post another review.
The online course was also not helpful at all nothing you wouldn’t already know, even a 7-year-old could understand it. It felt like a total waste of money.
Regarding the college, I specifically asked about schedule flexibility because my schedule is very messed up and I needed lessons from two different pickup locations. They agreed before I booked the course. However, after that they refused and said they never discussed it with me. For 8 months, they couldn’t provide an instructor who could accommodate two locations and then used the excuse “we are not Uber.” I know that I wasn’t asking for Uber service this expensive. I was only asking for lessons from two agreed locations, which they had already understood at the time of booking but later acted confused about.
Another issue was scheduling. Even after paying $800, I had to adjust my timings according to other students. I often had to wait 1–2 hours after my shift ended just to wait for another student to finish their training before I could start my lesson.
My experience with instructor was quite frustrating. I initially liked my instructor and even told the school that. He told me he was going on vacation, but I later found out he was giving private lessons to my friend during that same time. My friend was also taken on test routes, even though I was told instructors are restricted from the test center and are not allowed to take students there. My friend became test-ready in about 6–7 lessons.
He also didn’t let me book my test, and my friend’s test was booked before mine even though she started taking classes after me. From the beginning, he was telling me to buy more lessons. Maybe the school should pay enough to the instructors so they don’t have to make these kinds of excuses.
Maytham Ibrahim was an excellent instructor from Fanshawe Driving School in London. He provided thorough feedback, clear guidance and demonstrated patients and professionalism. It was a positive experience for my son; he was easy to learn from and provided him with confidence. Passed his G2 on the first go.
Had an instructor named Elshabi, he was great, makes you repeat maneuvers and encourages at home practice, brought out a huge change in my driving practices from when i start to where i am now.
My Instructor was a man named Ousama. He was very good. He taught me very well and he is a very good teacher. 10/10. He was perfect. I passed on my first try.
Please book your test with instructor, Alla Al-Hashimi. He is very patient, professional and honest with his teaching. He was quite thorough and very knowlegeable. I took the road test and passed.Thank you, Alla.
I have to be totally honest about Fanshawe Driving.. we started off a little rough, having to sort out the drivers mix-ups. zafhir made everything better and really went out of his way to take care of my daughter.. And last minute let her use his car for the drive tes. What an amazing man. He was easy to learn from and she definitely made her better. Thank you for all you have done
I had an incredible experience at Fanshawe Driving School, especially because of my instructor, Umeet Singh. He managed to push me to grow, to practice, and to be more confident with my driving, demonstrating great patience with me. From the beginning of this course, I was a terrible driver but because of him, I managed to get my driver's license. I highly recommend him and if anybody gets him as their instructor, trust me, you will have an incredible time.
