Inglis Cycle Center Ltd. is a family business that has been into motorcycles since the very start. Mike's grandfather was George William Foster who was Gord and Lori's father and founder of G.W.Foster Co.Ltd. in London, England, early 1900s. They sold bicycle parts and bikes, and manufactured the MAXIM motorcycle on site. His catalog describes it as "a well-constructed Motor Cycle fitted with 3 1/2 horsepower. T.D.C. T.D.C. Enamelled machines in Best Black, Lined or Dark Green and Gold Lined. All this for only PS28-10 Shillings. These were early motorcycles from an era where everyone made what they wanted when they wanted it but in reality, Foster was just rebranding someone else's design. This purchase was sent by ship to Cape Town, South Africa, and was never seen again. Alan opened an accessory shop for the racing community in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1968, Alan moved his family from New York to Wilmington, where Alan's two sons, Gord, and Mike showed an interest in motorcycling. First, they raced at dirt tracks, and then later as teenagers, they took up road racing across the United States. Mike and Gord eventually gave up motorcycling due to the demands of their family business. Despite no longer being riders, their passion for the sport still burns as they are involved in sponsorship and support in London. Alan, his family, and their belongings returned home to Canada in 1978. They settled in London Ontario where they opened Inglis Cycle Center at Osler St, selling Yamaha. An adjacent store soon opened on McGregor Avenue. These two locations were merged at McCormick Blvd in 1985. From a Yamaha dealer with one line, it has grown to a Yamaha Suzuki dealership. Gord and Mike carry on the tradition of offering first-class service and sales to the motorcycling community. In 2000, Mike’s sons and partners, David and Alan Inglis began to work part-time for the company. This marked the beginning of the fifth generation.
