Scott Smith

Personal Life Progression Scott Smith was born in North Bay Ontario. Before finally settling in London, he had lived in many Ontario towns and cities. He was actively involved in sports, both collegiately and outside the school environment during his elementary and high school days. The law profession in London was preceded by a phenomenon where he participated in many public speaking contests. He was named the Provincial winner of the Ministry of Education Ontario Public Speaking Contest for all students during his last year in high school. Educational and Professional Qualifications Scott Smith obtained a bachelor of arts degree from Queen's University. In 1979, he graduated from The University of Western Ontario’s law school and was admitted to the bar in 1981. He completed his bar admissions and a further year of article practice. Scott has been practicing in London, Ontario, and since 1988, he has operated in partnership with Ross Nicholson in Nicholson Smith, their boutique litigation law firm. Civil Litigation Reputation Scott has practiced law throughout his career. He has specialized in civil litigation and concentrated on insurance litigation and personal injury. He also has a high level of experience in contract and commercial litigation. Scott has appeared at all levels of the Trial and Appeal Courts of Ontario as well as the Federal Court of Canada and Administrative Tribunals. He has also been involved in Coroner's Inquests.
