Orthodontically Yours – Dr. Eugene Kholov Dr. Eugene Kholov, originally from Russia, immigrated to Canada when he was just 16 years old. After graduating from high school in 1977, Dr. Kholov pursued his career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto in 1980 and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1982. In 1985, Dr. Kholov also received a Diploma of Orthodontics from the University of Toronto. Dr. Kholov founded Orthodontically Yours the same year. The treatment of patients with malocclusions using braces and aligners is enhanced by his active participation in continuing education and the International Orthodontic Study Club. Dr. Kholov is a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is also a member of the Great Lakes Society of Orthodontists and the Canadian Dental Association. Dr. Kholov is an active member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity and the Omicron Upsilon Honour Dental Society. Although it is a personal preference, metal braces can be seen more easily on the teeth. Ceramic braces are clear and less noticeable. To make it less noticeable, the brackets are usually made of tooth-colored materials. Ceramic brackets are commonly used on teenagers and adults who do not want their braces to stand out. The ceramic brackets also require greater oral hygiene due to their size. The ceramic brackets are also less durable and more delicate than metal brackets. The elastic bands can discolor due to smoking and certain foods used.
