South Peel Veterinary Hospital South Peel Veterinary Hospital was established in 1969 by Dr. Bob Horner after purchasing a parcel of land on Mavis Road to construct a small building. It was a rural practice north of the city, so the clients had to drive through the country to reach South Peel. Dr. Horner gradually expanded this building over the years, and the surrounding area grew to include and surround the practice. In 1983, Dr. Horner entered federal politics, and his practice ownership was sold to Dr. Bob Smith. South Peel Veterinary Hospital continued to thrive under Dr. Smith. South Peel Veterinary Hospital in 1984 was invited to join the American Animal Hospital (AAHA) to enhance the service it was providing to patients and clients. To become a member, a practice must meet over 900 requirements. These standards emphasize client care and patient safety. South Peel Veterinary Hospital has been a member in good standing since 1988, which is longer than any other of the nine Mississauga-accredited hospitals.
