Invest Ottawa is Canada’s top economic development agency in knowledge-based sectors. The Capital Angel Network (CAN) in Ottawa-Gatineau Region has recently announced the expansion of SheBoot. This bootcamp, which assists female entrepreneurs in overcoming the funding gap, has been expanded across the country. SheBoot will receive funding up to $342,000 from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, as well as advisory services. The program will be expanded and piloted across the country with the money received. This funding will help more female tech entrepreneurs prepare for investment and get the capital they need for success and growth. Over the last 18 months, SheBoot alumni have raised more than $7.84 million in follow-on investments. Many more are yet to be announced. SheBoot Application and Funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program Invest Ottawa, CAN and CAN co-founded the first SheBoot application across the country. This program aims to address long-standing, systemic issues in the investment area by increasing the amount of funding available for female founders and the number of women who invest. The program was created by female investors and entrepreneurs and is seeking to address the challenges that encounter scalable technology-empowered women-led companies, such as acquiring capital. You can also receive funding from female angel investors if you compete for equity-based minimum investments of $200,000.
