At Ottawa Art Academy, we focus on academic representational realist art. Our students learn how to draw and paint realistically. If they can accurately depict what they see, they can create anything they want to imagine. Many of the techniques we use today were developed at art schools in the nineteenth century. This includes the use of precise plaster casts and how to mix and see colours. This art method not only helps students improve their drawing skills but also preserves these traditional practices. It is our philosophy that anybody could become a master given sufficient time. Our academy provides classes for all ages and skill levels. Students are open to all levels of artistry and all age groups. Thus, from retired individuals to high school students to those beginning their retirement. Although the classroom will have multiple students, the teacher will provide individual instruction. It means that each student receives the education they need and is exposed to different topics. The project will be adjusted to the student’s requirements after completing a few simple projects. Someone may wish to improve their portrait painting abilities. Then, the student may practice using different media, from graphite and charcoal to coloured chalks and monochrome. This will help the student learn more about portraiture. This approach can be used to create portfolios for university, college, or job applications. All of our projects have a straightforward step-by-step process. As they progress from one project to the next, we present new concepts and increase the difficulty.
