Project Management Institute Ottawa Valley (PMI OVOC) Overview The Project Management Institute is a not-for-profit professional organization established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA in 1969. PMI enriches value to more than 2.9 million professionals in nearly every country globally through global advocacy, collaboration, education, and thought leadership. PMI supports careers and advances employer success. It also enhances the project management profession by offering internationally recognized standards, certifications, and resources. PMI OVOC was established in 1985 and has more than 2100 members. The Project Management Institute (PMI) was founded in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA and with over 220,000 members from over 120 countries, is the world's largest not-for-profit project management professional organization. PMI OVOC was founded in 1985 and represents Ottawa Valley and Outaouais Region. (PMI OVOC, 2014). Strategic Planning The PMI Board of Directors commenced strategic planning in 2001. The strategic planning process took place from 2002 to 2004. The Board of Directors created and implemented a strategic framework during that time. According to Chang and Ho (2006), the strategic framework is crucial to PMI's vision of the long-term. Conclusion The PMI OVOC finished the strategic planning process and created a long-term strategic plan that aligns with the Project Management Institute. This process has enabled (a) PMI OVOC to understand the future needs and customers of its members, and (b), PMI OVOC can understand how they can meet these needs.
