ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

ODSP is one of the two Ontario welfare programs. The ODSP Act is the law, which was passed by the legislature in Queen’s Park in 1997 (Created ODSP at the time). ODSP assists persons with disabilities to pay their daily living expenses (Income support). This support can help the person to find a job if they are able to work and need this assistance. The ODSP program is delivered by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services. ODSP Income Support is only available to people who are eighteen years or older. You must be living in Ontario and demonstrate financial need. You must expect your severe mental or physical disability to last for over a year. You must not be able to look after yourself or engage in activities in your community for ODSP to provide Income support. ODSP reviews your financial and disability status before determining whether you qualify for Income supplements.
