Managing employees comes with the territory when you're in charge of your own business or when you wear the manager mantle. Supervisors and senior executives in a department oversee employees, so they have to lead and manage. The leaders and managers of companies and other organizations may not always see that leadership and management are not the same. The differences can be quite significant. Management is generally regarded as a science, while leadership is considered an art. An objective is broadly defined as any system, process or series of steps designed to achieve it. The same definition may apply to the job duties of a manager. An art is described as using skill, knowledge, and imagination to create something unique. This concept reflects leadership responsibilities, especially visionary leadership. Leaders also rely on systems or methods—science—to achieve their goals. Managers sometimes apply creative imagination, a key art aspect, to motivate workers, boost performance, and accomplish goals.
