About this business

Our company is dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusivity. Our goal is to advance equity and maintain MEC as an inclusive and accepting environment where staff and members are portrayed and can comfortably exist as they genuinely are. MEC has taken significant measures to ensure that this is the case. People of colour who are registered members shared how they felt when they saw their faces on MEC. There were still many others who were waiting to have their faces in MEC. We make a firm commitment to our imagery's visibility to represent Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. As well as addressing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Call to Action 92, MEC wants to make reparative effort. We strongly commit to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This Statement establishes basic criteria for the well-being and safety of Indigenous Peoples. This means that MEC will integrate the Declaration's criteria, concepts, and standards into our fundamental activities and corporate directives that impact Indigenous Peoples. Archipel Research, an Indigenous-led and run institution, supports MEC in the journey to Truth and Reconciliation. The new commitment involves engagement with Indigenous communities and organizations, staff training and education, and many other initiatives.

Reviews Summary

Many patrons were very satisfied with the new MEC Bayview location overall, both praising the variety of outdoor products accessible and the customer service. Various reviews highlighted the kind and helpful staff who were highly trained and very knowledgeable about hiking, climbing and camping gear. When one individual bought climbing shoes that did not fit and she returned it with no issues, this was evident. A few users were discovering the establishment for the first time and came away thoroughly pleased. Another said that this tiny pop-up store was not as vast or well-stocked as the flagship, but that that was a minor inconvenience. Despite this, customers still felt like many of them were buying a lot of goods and were typically happy to be offered recommendations or more information.
