Art Windsor-Essex

Art Windsor-Essex is dedicated to supporting and promoting Canadian visual art in Windsor-Detroit, one of North America's most active international border communities. It was founded in 1943 and is located in a prime downtown area by the river, with a view of the Detroit River. The Gallery is renowned for its innovative contemporary art program and Canadian art collection, which consists of almost 4,000 works. Art Windsor-Essex has won 20 awards since 2013, including the Best of Windsor Award for Best Public Art Gallery and Public Art Space. We are improving the way we work for our community. We are committed to equity, diversity, and accessibility. We know that the work needed to be community-driven changes constantly. It is a never-ending journey. We acknowledge that the gallery was elitist in the past. It is something we take very seriously, and our policies and how we approach our programs and exhibitions are changing to make them more welcoming. Together, staff and volunteers are creating a place where visitors feel involved and received at Art Windsor-Essex. Most users enjoyed their time at the museum. It turned out to be their regular place of peace and pleasure, surrounded by amazing exhibitions, Young Adult gatherings, and educational talks for both families and motivated groups. Some were amazed by a dinosaur exhibit that acted as a good learning tool for children and adults. They also had an intense feeling of other social events hosted at this location, single black entrepreneurs being one of them. This museum seemed to have a notable feel-good ambiance, which has made it an important part of the Windsor community. The remarkable window view of the Detroit River gave serenity in this area that was away from the city’s regular business. You can always plan to go to this museum because it is affordable for both adults and children, and it provides free education classes during weekends. It was also attended by members who benefited a lot from its various social programs. This gallery can be a good setting for a romantic date because it occupies two or more hours to include seeing the exhibitions. Some visitors used to celebrate it or mark some personal events in this gallery.
