Artcite Inc. was founded in 1982 and is a charitable registered organization. It is a member of the Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCCC) and Artist-Run Centres & Collectives Ontario (ARCCO). Our organization is the artists' centre. Our members run the organisation and act as a board of volunteers. Most of our dedicated and committed staff team are practicing professional artists. Artcite Inc. is a not-for-profit artist-run center for contemporary arts. The organization is responsible for increasing the visibility and promotion of contemporary artists in our region. We also work towards the presentation and animation of these art forms. Artcite is a centre for visual arts. Its mission is to expand the traditional understandings and definitions of art today by exploring the diversity of Canadian artists who represent the social and cultural makeup of this area. The organization's goals are to support, exhibit and present regional, national, and international artists working in different media and disciplines. We also support artists at various stages of their career, including emerging artists, artists from a new generation, and artists with culturally marginalized backgrounds. Artcite's mandate is to promote professionalism in the art world. We support our artists by paying them professional artist fees that are set at national rates. Artcite's mission is to offer forward-thinking, inclusive, and engaging platforms for critical discourse, professional development, cultural exchange, and community outreach among contemporary artists, communities and organizations, and the general public. We also host special art events such as artist talks, workshops, residencies, modern art installations, public art, social advocacy, film and video screenings, public readings and performances by Canadian poets and authors, and multidisciplinary performance programs, as well as other special art projects.

Notably, the artist-run community center is an extremely tolerant, accepting, and enlightening space that offers visitors the chance to explore novel ways to interact with art. The centre's valuable artistic and social offerings and the warm and creative environment impressed many visitors.
