Our History The first JYSK Canada store was opened in Coquitlam (British Columbia) in 1996. JYSK is still growing and is located in more than 60 areas across Canada. We are in Alberta, British Columbia and in all other provinces to meet your needs. We have been selling furniture, accessories, and mattresses since 1979! We think that Scandinavian design for everybody is crucial and that is why we are passionate about it! Our Founders Lars Larsen, a young man from Thy, a northwestern area in Denmark, who thought that he had the potential needed to be a successful entrepreneur. Lars Larsen had his start at a manufacturing plant, then at a residential site. He had a dream to start a retail chain selling beds. His mission was to make sure that all customers could get an excellent deal. It all started when he went to several banks to get a loan. Lars Larsen was persistent and had an optimistic attitude. He finally persuaded the bank to lend him some money for the business idea to work. Then Lars Larsen found some suppliers who would accept his innovative way of working into their conditions.
