Approximately $10,000 in legal fees, three changes of lawyer, and no follow-up after the hearing My experience with this law firm was extremely disappointing. I retained the firm for several years regarding a renoviction case before the Tribunal administratif du logement (TAL) in Montréal. I had already prepared a comprehensive file myself, including photographs, an official report from the City, and relevant email exchanges. Despite paying approximately $10,000 in legal fees, I had to deal with three changes of lawyer. Each time, I had to explain the case all over again, which, in my experience, reflected a serious lack of continuity and internal communication. In the end, I was advised to attend the hearing on my own, bringing photocopies of documents that I had personally provided to the firm. I made it clear that I was not comfortable with this arrangement, but I was assured that all I would need to do was tell my story and present my evidence. I followed this recommendation, partly to avoid adding further costs to an already considerable legal bill. At the hearing, the opposing party requested that the case be transferred to another tribunal, and the request was granted. I then contacted the firm to ask about the next steps. Despite following up monthly, my messages went unanswered. When it came to collecting payment for their fees, however, the firm had no difficulty contacting me promptly and repeatedly. When it came to answering my questions after the hearing, that responsiveness had completely disappeared. I strongly advise against using this firm due to its lack of follow-up, poor continuity in handling my case, and the level of service I received compared with the amount I was charged.
