The CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Ile-de-Montreal has 12 foundations that arm-twist potential donors to give generously in order to finance our activities and improve services rendered outpatients (hospital, CLSC, CHSLD). The Quebec Health and Social Services Act requires all health institutions in Quebec to offer services in French. However, some people are more comfortable speaking English, and they want to receive services in this language. Consequently, the law provides provisions to make English available for a range of social and health services. Seventy-five percent of the population residing in downtown Montreal speaks French, and 7.4% speaks English. The CIUSSS Du Centre-Sud (Montreal downtown) heavily features on French health and social services. Certain services available on the territory of the CIUSSS Du Centre-Sud (reception, evaluation, orientation, psychosocial services, home services, etc.) are not available only in French, but also possible to ask for in English.
