ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

When the first cremation took place at Mount Royal Cemetery in Canada, this event was considered ground-breaking. Crematoriums were not available in Canada at the beginning of the 20th century, while the demand for them was significant. Sir William MacDonald heavily supported cremation and made a substantial donation to build a building that can support it. The first crematorium in Canada was opened on the premises of Mount Royal Cemetery. Cremation was practiced in ancient times. Antique has several grounds for the existence of the process of cremation. Pottery vessels filled with cremated remains that are from many people have been discovered in Europe. Cremation became the most practiced method of burial due to influence by Roman aristocrats from 1400 BC to AD 200. The Caesar family is one of the several families which made cremation their choice. Christianity became the most popular religion between the 3rd to the 19th century. Christian doctrines prohibited cremation because it was thought that the body could not be resurrected after being destroyed. The desecration or destruction of God's work was considered a crime to the early generation Jews thus cremation was prohibited. It is illegal for Orthodox Jews and Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches to cremate their dead. Some cultural groups are still practicing cremation as a burial custom.
