BRIANNE URZADA was born on September 29, 1989, in Yorkton (Canada), living and working in Regina. She graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts). She was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage 3 at the age of 23. Following a long but successful treatment period, she recovered. Brianne uses trauma and identity in her work as a method of healing and redemption. Through abstract images, she records her journey and delivers a positive message.
Brianne established Arthouse in 2015, an arts company where she practices as a professional artist offering corporate team-building events centered on the arts and private painting classes. She discovered the healing and calming effects of art therapy when battling cancer. Brianne provides free art therapy classes to cancer survivors and patients. Her paintings usually show the students in the class. Brianne was awarded the University of Regina Crowning Achievement Award for her community work and charity.
Brianne’s solo show, Someone You Know, displayed her latest work. In 2020, she finished the Michele Sereda artist-in-residence program in Regina. She received the Excellence award in 2019 at the 34th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition. Additionally, she was among the top 15 artists in the Circle Foundation Competition Artist of the Year in 2023.
