Early's Farm and Garden Centre

Early's Farm & Garden Centre specializes in Garden Supplies, Fertilizers, Pet Supplies, Livestock Feeds, Grass seed, Forage seed, Golf Course Suppli, es, Statuary, Fountains, Pond Supplies. Founded in 1907 by S.A. Early, an American who moved to Western Canada in search of new opportunities. S.A. sold produce and feed to his neighbors before opening a wholesale fruit company. He also managed his own feed shop. In 1909, he was joined by his cousin J.H. Hunter in the fruit and produce selling operation. Hunter Early was the manager of the wholesale fruit company for several years. He then ventured into the automobile business and founded the J.H. The Early Motor Company was located on Third Avenue, where the company is currently based. By 1928, the company had built another elevator next to the first one. This was to continue with its expansion plans and ensure that the city of Saskatoon continued to grow and develop. The two elevators also enabled the company to venture into seed grain cleaning and livestock feed manufacturing. Even though the Depression years were known as the "dirty thirties" and negatively impacted the seed industry by reducing demand for seed and feed, Early's persevered and pioneering the trade in garden seed packets. S.A. was founded in 1942. S.A. was founded in 1942. The first Spring Catalogue of Early & Co. contained products such as feed, grains, livestock and poultry supplies, vegetables and flower seeds, pet food, and supplies. It also included a new product, baby chicks which Early had developed from its own hatchery.
