About this business

The RBSA Gallery is located in the renowned and historic Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, a few minutes from the city centre. The gallery is open to the public free of charge, and operating hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30 am - 5 pm. The gallery runs several striking exhibitions and informed talks with a selection of associated workshops, professional development opportunities, and other options. The Gallery Shop features the finest in contemporary craft from Midlands designers. The free-to-all and open-submission RBSA Candidates' Exhibition occurs annually and allows the society to vote on work submitted by new or established artists who wish to join the Society as Associates or full Members. Each candidate must submit at least six pieces for the exhibition, and all are on display for the duration. Members and Associates may cast silent votes on their favourite piece of work by visiting the exhibition. To be a candidate, you must get at least half of the total votes in favour.

Reviews Summary

Visitors universally praise Birmingham's gallery, citing its consistently engaging and varied exhibitions, such as the PRSA Friends exhibit featuring top-tier photography. Patrons also discuss the engaging and artistically diverse collection, which often contains locally crafted pottery, jewelry, and classical styles. Furthermore, the gallery's staff and shop make for a light, intimate experience that is free to the public but worth more than the suggested donation. These conditions make even the jeweler Quarter's hidden gem a fantastic place for a first foray into Birmingham's art scene. Many visitors purchased art there and documented gallery patrons who were very happy with their showroom. It is highly recommended for tourists, art lovers, and even residents.
