I had the opportunity to speak with Michelle, who was exceptionally supportive and reassuring. At that initial stage, I felt encouraged and confident in the process. However, it was still early, and my overall experience changed after engaging with the wider team.
While my case was received positively, reviewed, and initially accepted, I was later informed that they would not be able to proceed under a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA). Instead, I was advised that I would need to fund the claim privately.
This outcome suggests that JF Law Ltd may be better suited to handling more straightforward and less complex matters. Cases that are dynamic, contentious, or legally intricate appear to fall outside their operational scope.
That said, I appreciated the fact that this position was communicated at an early stage, allowing me to make informed decisions without prolonged uncertainty. In my view, legal practitioners who are reluctant to engage with challenging or controversial cases may not be positioned to drive meaningful change or robust advocacy.
Reflecting on this experience has also reminded me how much I value legal practice and the intellectual challenge it brings; I do miss being actively involved in it.
