Alabama School of Fine Arts is a public school and state institution. It provides a specialized curriculum in the area of arts, mathematics, and sciences, educating talented and capable students living in any Alabama region. Students take rigorous courses in the morning that surpass state standards and exceed other high school diploma requirements. They spend hours each day developing their skills and creativity in their chosen discipline. ASFA graduates apply the techniques they learn to develop habits of creative thinking that enable them to succeed in a wide range of industries. ASFA’s policies and procedures are directed by the State-appointed Board of Trustees. The school employs more than 100 administrators, teachers, and support staff, some of whom work part-time. In-state students pay a semester fee. Out-of-state students pay the school's tuition; it sets the amount. Students living on campus pay annual room and board fees.
