Gail Westhoven is a proud Birmingham native who grew up, attended schools, and stayed in the city for most of her life. After earning her Bachelor's degree in Science from Auburn University, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina, to continue her education by earning a medical degree with distinction from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia before moving to Galveston, Texas, for residency. Dr. Westhoven came back to the Magic City in 1999 and joined the long-standing practice of Dr. Larry Sampson, Associated Dermatologists. She is married to David, and they have two daughters Brooke Courtney and Diane. David is CFO of Dr. Westhoven's practice. Dr. Westhoven enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. She is an active Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church member. Dr. Westhoven has been a dermatologist since 1999. She became board certified in 1999 and was recertified in 2009 and 2019. In 2012, she was elected President of the Alabama Dermatology Society. She previously served as Secretary and Vice-President. She is a member of the American Association of Dermatology and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
