I lived at Phoenix Manor for about 18 months, moving out this past April 1. I am prompted to write this review after being informed that I would receive NONE of my $700.00 in deposits. I will admit that there was some minor damage in the bedroom due to a picture being hung with tape which removed some paint from the wall; a small fix with spackel and paint, but certainly not hundreds of dollars! When I calling regarding the deposit, I was informed that my pet deposit of $200.00 was voided, with no details given. My four year old dog has NEVER soiled indoors, and as far as I know, the carpet I inherited when I moved in was ALREADY stained, but hey, to save $200.00 bucks, it’s my word against theirs, after the fact. To further put this situation into perspective, my good friend moved out of her place the same time I did, and received her full deposit of $700.00! She also had a small dog. So, other than the small wall damage, you’re telling me there’s $700.00 difference in our places? Fast forward, I tried calling the management company in California, and of course you have to leave a message, which is then ignored. So, I’ve chalked this up to an example of arbitrary discretion by a management operation with little or no regard for any kind of customer service, and that’s from WGID in Sacramento down to the hapless office personnel at the complex. Their attitude of indifference and condescension made itself apparent on numerous occasions, not only to myself, but to other tenants as well. I wonder if they would treat their own parents this way! Kind of reminded me of nurse Ratched in “One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. And with the exception of Art (Arturo) in maintenance, my interactions with personnel left something to be desired, like the numerous contacts with the gray-haired incompetent I prefer to call “Worthless”, who, after entering my apartment without my permission while I was gone, LOCKED ME OUT! Requiring another request to get me back in!! Makes me wonder who he’s related to… Actually, it appears that a healthy pulse is the only job requirement needed! So, finally, until WHOLESALE changes are made in management at this place, I would STRONGLY advise anyone against considering moving here. Seniors have a right to live out their golden years with dignity, not as a burden or inconvenience
For approximately 9 and ½ years, I resided at the Phoenix Manor. My stay there provided me excellent memories. Office management and staff, as well as the maintenance, painting, grounds and security staff, are very professional, courteous and helpful. I found my apartment and patio charming. The attractively landscaped grounds encourage the residents to walk about the beautiful Manor campus. The friends I made at the Manor are wonderful individuals, and I greatly enjoyed the many Phoenix Manor activities. I highly recommend the Phoenix Manor. Due to recent health developments, I moved last month to an apartment near my primary care physician’s and associated doctors’ offices.
